Trip itinerary

Week 1

Once you’ve touched down at Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO), San José, we will pick you up and take you to your first night’s 4-star private hotel accommodation. Once you are settled in, you will get together with your new fellow digital nomads and your local guide for a welcome dinner and drinks at the restaurant, where you will be briefed on the trip to come.  The day is your own and you know your working hours and patterns better than anyone, so far be it for us to dictate what you get up to in your entrepreneurial splendour! What we are providing is a beautiful space in which to work, set in a stunning location, with everything you need on-site to ensure your work is a continued success. You can opt to put your head down in your own private space (private rooms have their own workspace) or join the group in the communal space and reap the benefits of having a group of like-minded individuals to bounce your ideas off. The next day we are off to our first workspace, in beautiful Tamarindo. Tamarindo is surfing and partying paradise. It forms part of Parque Nacional Marino Las Baulas de Guanacaste, and the beach is absolutely stunning. Foodies will find some of the best restaurants in the country and there's a thriving market on Saturday mornings. Its central location makes it a great base for exploring the northern peninsula. While you are here, your local guide will be taking you out into the jungles for a canopy and zipline tour and exploring the real off-the-beaten track on an adventurous ATV tour.

Week 2

From Tamarindo, you are heading down the coast for a little bit of the same, just a little more remote. Sleepier and more wild, Nosara is still a surfer’s paradise but brings with it a strong yoga vibe. Truly a place to chill out and replenish after your first week. Three stunning beaches are stitched together by a network of dirt track roads that meander over coastal hills providing a truly stunning backdrop to your working week. Away from the parties, morning yoga and poolside activity (oh, and some work of course) you will be heading out to hit the waves as you learn to surf and if the season is right, you will be heading out to check out and participate in some sea turtle conservation. Both activities are designed to get you closer to nature, and all its beauty and wonder that surrounds you.

Week 3

It is time to head inland. Taking a break from the new ‘normal’, this week you will be staying in two locations, 4 nights in Monteverde and 3 nights in La Fortuna. Both are in the same volcanic region and are linked by another one of your delightful activities. Spread out on the slopes of the Cordillera de Tilarán volcano, this area is covered in villages, farms and nature reserves. Tiny Monteverde borders its namesake reserve, a Cloud Forest Reserve packed with wildlife, trails to hike, birds to spot, waterfalls to swim and adventures to be had at every turn. Then you will jump on a fantastic cruise across Lake Arenal to spend time in beautiful La Fortuna, and this is not the only activity we have planned for you. In Monteverde, you will head into the jungle in the pitch black, navigating your way through with a local guide to experience a nocturnal wonderland. You will also spend an afternoon hiking the trails of this volcanic region and top it all off with a soak in the natural hot springs as the sun sets over the otherworldly landscapes of this incredible region.

Week 4

Your private transfer takes you back to the coast for your final week, to the party town of Jacó. Jacó was the first town on the central Pacific Coast to explode with tourist development and it remains a major draw for backpackers, surfers and people looking to escape the big city. This is a party town and bars and clubs line the main drag, Jacó Walk, though there is a quieter, more traditional side to the town too. Here we will take you to a sloth sanctuary, to get up close and personal with these unbelievably cool creatures. We will also get you out on the open ocean, sailing to the beautiful Tortuga Island on a luxurious catamaran.

Ongoing

Once your final week comes to a close, we will transfer you back to Central Valley to end the way we began. Toasting to a successful month and the unbreakable bonds that have formed, we will take to the bar/restaurant for one last Costa Rican party. Then, it's a transfer to the airport and back to your normal working life, which we warn will likely never live up to your experience in Costa Rica. Sorry!  Your local guide will have arranged one mid-week excursion for you and a longer, more involved escape at the weekend, to ensure you are seeing all sides of this beautiful country. From striding and sliding through the jungle treetops to exploring the majesty of the volcanoes, you will be immersed in the magic of Costa Rica, seeing a side of the country that’s just for you.

Why not give yourself something to look forward to by booking that trip!

Can I travel with a friend?

Yes you can! Simply tell your Trip Coordinator after booking that your friend is also going and they can link your profiles. For most of our trips we should be able to have you and your friends placed together or nearby. Meaning that you can live, work, play & travel together!

But wait there's more! Not only can you travel the world with your besties at your side, you can also earn some extra cash towards your own trip just by referring your friends to Global Work & Travel. What happens if COVID affects my trip?

If you have to make any changes to your departure date, you’re protected with our Lifetime Deposit Guarantee and our Ultimate Corona Booking Flexibility. With this, we will change your trip dates for free. If this doesn’t fit around you and you can’t go on your trip anymore, we will give you a 100% refund in the form of a Trip Credit with us (See terms). If you’re unable to use it, you can also transfer that credit to someone else for them to put towards any trip too.

If you’re affected by Covid-19 while you’re overseas, you will have all the support you need from our team or partners in-country as well as have access to our 24/7 Global Emergency Line. We recommend travellers purchase Global Travel Cover travel insurance that provides Covid-19 medical protection too.

Do I need to be vaccinated to book?

As border restrictions for countries begin to ease, being fully vaccinated will maximise the number of locations you can visit. So while you are not legally required to be vaccinated, and it’s also not a requirement to travel with us, it will limit some of the countries that you can visit and may make it harder to travel through over the next 12-18 months. We highly recommend our travellers look at the current travel restrictions of their destination, speak with a medical professional or get in touch with our team for travel advice.

What happens if I want to cancel my trip?

Our Ultimate Corona Booking Flexibility means you can change your trip’s start date up to 84* days before departure without incurring any charges when you rebook it for any time (or even any other trip) in the next 2 years from your original start date.

In the event that you want to cancel your booking altogether, if you give us over 84* days notice you can do so with only a 50% cancellation fee. Your refund of the balance will come in the form of a Store Credit which you can put towards booking absolutely anything travel related with your Travel Concierge within the next 2 years!

*Some select trips excluded, including Teach (Spain, Italy & Czech Republic) and USA (Summer Camp, Working Holiday and Hotel Professional), and others as listed in Booking Conditions.
